AlmeShefa Company Limited is a companythat exports myrrh gum. Myrrh resin is obtained from the barks of trees thatare found in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) region of Kenya. The extracted oil from myrrhhas been used in a variety of ways for centuries as a perfume, incense and for medicinal purposes. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Treatmentof coughs, colds and arthritis
- Making ofessential oils used in aromatherapy and spa treatments
- Treatinginfected wounds and a wide range of skin conditions
Currently, the company exports myrrh resin gum (myrrh) primarilyto the Asian Market. Alme Shefa islooking to provide customers with a natural alternative for a variety of needsby offering an organic based solution and improving balance of trade for Kenyathrough exporting.
As a company, we understand that manufacturing isone of the country’s Big 4 Agenda items. Due to this, we are working to strategicallyposition ourselves as the supplier of the above mentioned products in Kenya,the region and the global markets.
As part of its strategic plan, the company plansto look into the following:
- Value addition though extraction of the oil sothat we are no longer exporting the raw material
- Expanding our product portfolio to include othernatural herbal alternatives such as Frankincense and Gum Arabic
